music, movies, and more???

So, I'm starting to learn about the importance of a movie director.  As am I more of a music fan...this is not something I have focused on before.

I can and will talk to you all day about how you should know more about Phil Spector than that he was that weird guy on the news who just had the biggest, frizziest hair ever, and was on trial for killing his wife or something.  Not Robert Blake, but that other guy.  Because that is probably what comes into your mind when you, for some weird reason, think of Phil Spector.

In all seriousness though, wiki "Wall of Sound" and just buy like every album you see there and listen, listen, listen.  I love golden oldies.  And girl groups.

<</END TANGANT>>

Directors I apparently love:

Quentan Tarantino
The Coen Brothers

Ok, so it's a short list.  But, I did say I was just getting started.

<</THE END>>

please read this because i had to kill a spider on top of my laptop to post it...

Did anyone else just eat vitamin c as a kid because it was like a magical sour candy that was good for you?

...

I mean...no rights??!  That's totally weird.

Pandora is so smart...

...it knows that when I thumbs-down "Lonely People" by America (lame), that I really want to rock out to some CCR and play "Bad Moon Rising".

Thumbs up, indeed.

OCD-MXC

Some insane things I have done in the name of OCD:

1: My DVD are alphabetically organized.  Also, sometimes I rearrange them to genres; but that is rare.  Actually, I found out that this isn't that weird.  And actually, it's downright convenient.

2: I once spent the good part of a Sunday organizing an entire box of Magic: The Gathering cards by color (i.e. land type).

Wow.  You know what?  I think I'll end this one right here.

oh how the mighty have fallen

Britney Spears doesn't have her discography anywhere on her website.

What does that tell you about the importance of her music?

Never you mind why I was looking at Britney Spears' website.

WHOOOOo0oo...ah shut up.

I probably like live music recordings less than most people.  I do not want to listen to someone else enjoying a concert.

Music VS Lyrics

"Helen Keller tells us how it used to be."

I never thought much about how somebody listens to music until I met my favorite dude, Jordan.  He apparently pays no attention to the lyrics of songs; and despite the fact that he has rocked out to Zep II since basically birth, still thinks that Robert Plant is singing about Helen Keller, the world's greatest historian, apparently.

Where as I, a lyric lover, can tell you all about Paul Simon and his mischievous buddy, Julio -  verbatim.  (I cannot however tell you what Paul, Julio, and Rosie were actually doing down by the schoolyard - as this is a mystery, locked away somewhere with that thing Indy Jones was trying to find that one time.  Anyways...) Lyrics are important to me is what I'm getting at here.

Although, he is right that I should be able to recognize the drum solo from Moby Dick.

So, it's a stalemate I suppose.

WAIT

We can totally solve this in the same way we solve all other philosophical quandaries - with a fictional deathmatch of a ridiculous pairing!

Ok, so who would win in a live action, Music VS Lyrics battle to the death?

Let's say Lyrics sends James Taylor as their champion and Music sends prodigal son Jimmy Page; let's face it, James Taylor will shutter as he hears the footsteps of Page descend into the arena.  The sight of the dragon pants would cause ol' Fire and Rain to melt into a pile of tears.  I mean, I love James Taylor, don't get me wrong, but...
